Skinny women are less likely to become pregnant than women who are overweight
That is the conclusion drawn by researchers of the Center of Fertility in Chicago analyzed data from nearly 2,500 procedures in vitro fertilization (IVF), which were held in the facility for eight years, according to meddaily.ru with reference to the Times of India.
Women who participated in the trial were divided into three groups according to their weight - a very thin, normal or obese. After IVF in the group with normal weight pregnant almost 50% of women among the total - 45%, while thin in the group - only 34%.
Scientists note that the category of very thin women is having a body mass index (BMI) of 14 to 18. In this case, the woman with the growth of 162.5 centimeters and a weight of 44.5 kg would have a BMI 17, and the woman with the growth of 177.8 centimeters and weighing 57 kilograms - BMI 18.
Previous studies have found that very thin women are more difficult to conceive naturally due to the decrease in their body level of the hormone estrogen. However, in this study, women undergoing IVF, received additional hormones.
